How do I apply for a Reception place?

Children born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 are due to start the first year of primary school (reception class) in September 2023.

You must apply directly to the council that you are living in at the time of application, regardless of the borough which the school is in. The deadline for applying for primary school is 15 January 2023

Applications received after this date are late and will not be considered until after national offer day.

The national offer day for on-time applicants is 16 April 2023. If you apply online you will receive an email in the evening on 16 April confirming the school that has been offered.

 

What are the timings of the school day?

We operate a SOFT START to the school day.  Children in reception able to enter school between 8:50 and 9:00.

The end of the day is at 3:00 p.m

 

How many children are in reception?

There are three reception classes called:

  • Birkbeck
  • Blondin
  • Bramley

There are 30 children in each class.  90 children in the year group

Each class has an allocated class teacher and another adult who will be able to support your child. 

There are at least 6 members of staff allocated to Reception.

 

How many applications were there last year?

In 2020 509 applications were made for 90 places.

 

What was the distance of the last place offered?

The distance of the last place offered on National Offer Day was 0.343 miles from the school

What should my child wear?

At Little Ealing, we do not wear a school uniform.  Your child should wear clothing that is appropriate for a busy day of learning and exploring.  We promote independence, so your child should wear clothing that they can manage by themselves.

As well as your child’s allocated  class teacher and early years practitioner your child will also be taught by our specialist teachers

What are the lunchtime arrangements?

All children in reception are entitled to a free school meal.  Our caterers from September 2021 will be ISS Catering and can accommodate allergies. 

Children usually eat in the dining room and have a daily choice of main meal from two options.  They are also able to choose from a vegetable selection and extensive salad bar as well as freshly baked.  Children can end their meal with a choice of puddings, yoghurt or fresh fruit.

 

What are the wrap-around childcare facilities?

Little Ealing operates its own breakfast club at the cost of £4.50 per session.  The breakfast club opens at 7:45 a.m. until the start of the school day.  The younger children are escorted to class. Bookings for breakfast club can be made with Michelle Moss at the school office.

 

Little Runners run after school provision and information about their provision needs to be booked directly with them. Little Runners operate from 3:00 – 6:00 at the cost of £11.00. all information can be found at http://www.lrunners.co.uk/

Little Runners also provide holiday clubs during school holidays.
